Booming U.S. Sales Delay Global Launch for iPad
The U.S. demand for its new iPad is so great, Apple said Wednesday, that it has to postpone the international launch of the device by a month, to the end of May, because of limited supplies. The computer giant called the U.S. “a runaway success,” with more than 500,000 iPads delivered in its first week.

Apple is calling the launch of its iPad tablet computer a runaway success today, saying it sold more than 500,000 of the devices in its first week on the US market. Apple said demand for the iPad is far higher than it predicted, and will likely continue to exceed supply, so it has decided to delay the international launch by a month, until the end of May.

Analysts cut Kindle estimates based on iPad threat
